1. Select the element whose design state you want to edit
2. Select the style tab at the top of the screen (selected automatically by default)
3. Click the States button on the far left of the toolbar.
4. Select the desired design state. The editor will now enter design mode
(indicated by a yellow background around the page), all changes made in this mode will only occur once the selected design state is triggered
5. Customize the design state as desired
6. Click Apply when finished
7. The page's states icon will now appear blue to let you know that it has active states. You can also click this icon to access the states menu.
